Safety

We strongly believe that for Safety, even ‘world class’ is not good enough! This belief encourages us to be better than the best in the field of safety. AIL has adopted a cradle-to-cradle approach for driving safety in its value chain which starts from product development to customer end.

At AIL, various leading and lagging indicators are implemented and regularly monitored through the highest level of management, which includes safety studies, safety training, audits, TRIFR, LTIFR, LTISR and Incident of High Consequences Frequency Rate (IHC-FR). We are certified with Integrated Management System of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.

We have established state-of-the-art process safety laboratory where various risk studies are performed with highly advanced equipment such as Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC), Thermal Screening Unit (TSU), Vent Sizing (VSP-2), ARC - Accelerating Rate Calorimeter, Flash Point apparatus and Minimum Ignition Energy to name a few.

Safe and reliable operation is assured by inherent safe design of plants. We have engaged experienced and competent people for plant operation, and to perform safety studies and assessments such as HAZOP, HIRA, QRA, SIL, LOPA and other risk studies on a defined periodicity for process validation.

We strive to make our workplace injury and incident free by inculcating safety culture at all levels of the organisation. We start our day with a safety pledge to reaffirm our commitment towards safety and well-being of people. We also believe ourselves to be net talent exporters for making the whole chemical manufacturing sector safer. We also organise various safety trainings, safety initiatives, mock drills and campaigns inside and outside the company.

As a unique practice, we organise TACIT knowledge sessions with experienced industry professionals to enhance the knowledge of our employees especially, the young generation.

Our infrastructure and trained man-power is equipped to handle any on-site and off-site emergency. We have mutual aid signed with neighbouring industries and provide support to other industries and communities in case of emergency situations. We conduct awareness sessions for nearby communities on Safety and Emergency Preparedness.

BE SAFE: Inculcating A Culture Of Responsibility

The word BE SAFE acronym to ‘By Employees Sustainability Assurance For Employees’ has turned out as a paradigm shift in the way of life at AIL. Employees assure each other through their visible actions in the areas of Health, Safety, Environment, Fire & Compliance. The intended goal of the BE SAFE program is ‘Assurance on Health Check of all Facilities - Zero Harm’.

To reinforce the message of safety, BE SAFE huddles are organised regularly through video conferencing. Employees across locations participate in these huddles to share learnings from major events, success stories and their knowledge on key factors pertaining to safety.

Customer Health and Safety

Customers are one of the most important stakeholders for any business. Continuing customer demand is the reason behind the existence of businesses. Customer satisfaction helps in building loyal customer base, goodwill, market reputation and positive word of mouth publicity. Customer centricity is one of our cultural attributes and key success factors.

Based on our high health, safety and quality standards, we have developed long-term strategic relationships with our customers and have become ‘Global Partner of Choice’ for leading manufacturers of specialty chemicals.

We are committed to Customer Health and Safety and hence taking regular customer feedback on Health and Safety aspects of our products. AIL supports and provides safety training to customers.

Product Safety and Stewardship

Product stewardship effort begins with a cross-functional team evaluation and prioritisation of each product or product group according to the level of risk, determined using hazard and exposure ratings.

Product hazards are intrinsic characteristics with the potential to cause harm such as flammability, corrosivity, reactivity and toxicity. Product exposure describes the potential contact between a product and people or the environment which is dependent upon the type of packaging, distribution, sales volume, the number of customers and their control systems and the product applications.

For each risk category, specific risk management practices and requirements have been identified and are reviewed on a regular basis. We work closely with our suppliers, carriers, distributors and customers to help them maintain high safety and environmental standards and provide them with technical assistance, training, and logistic support as well as health, safety and environmental advice.

GPS Safety Summary

As part of our commitment to product safety and stewardship, we published the Global Product Strategy (GPS) Safety Summary which we intended to provide the general public with an overview of product safety information  about the health, safety and environment of Chemical substance. To obtain the most accurate and current information, consult the appropriate Safety Data Sheet (SDS) through AIL website prior to use of the material .
