Meta-Phenylenediamine (m-Phenylenediamine, 1,3-Diaminobenzene) is a white crystalline solid (powder or needle-shaped crystals) which, on exposure to air, gradually turns red to red-brown due to oxidation. In the dye industry, meta-phenylenediamine is widely employed as an intermediate or coupling agent in the synthesis of azo dyes and other dye molecules for textiles, leather, and fabrics.
